Ping DXi Audio Metronome
The Ping DXi plug-in is designed for use as an audio metronome.
Ping plays the metronome sounds through the assigned
audio device instead of a MIDI device.
Ping reads the song's tempo and meter, and responds
accordingly with sample accuracy.
- There are two beats to
controla "First" beat, and "Subsequent"
beats.
- You assign note values
to the beatsfor example, in 4/4 time, you might assign a
"whole" note to the first beat, and a "quarter"
note to subsequent beats.
- The First beat would sound
at the start of every measure, the Subsequent beat would sound
at each subsequent beat boundary (3 times per measure).
You can also assign melodic sounds (i.e.
sine waves at specified pitches) to either of the beats, or percussive
sounds, which are small wave files representing the recorded sounds.
13 percussive sounds are provided, and there are provisions for
adding your own sounds, to a total of 20 sound types.
Each beat can be assigned a duration (any allowed value, including
dotted, and triplet notes), a length in fractions of a second (mainly
used for melodic sounds), and a velocity (i.e. volume of the sound).
There are also provisions for overriding the song's tempo, and for
detecting a tapped tempo.
