• CDRW or DVDRW Drive not detected

The information in this article applies to:

    • pyro 2004
    • Cakewalk® PYRO® Plus
    • MediaWorks
    • Cakewalk Pyro 5

    Problem:

Pyro does not detect a drive on your system correctly.

    Solution:

First click the link below to see the latest list of supported drives:

    http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/recorders/index.cfm

If your drive is supported, make sure you are logged in as Administrator, or have Administrative privileges. After installing Napster, Pinnacle's Instant CD/DVD 8, Roxio's DirectCD and/or Easy CD Creator, Cakewalk may not see any recorders. Several registry entries essential for the correct functioning of the GEARAspi driver set have been corrupted by the DirectCD, Pinnacle, Easy CD Creator or Napster installation routines. Try temporarily uninstalling these programs then reinstall Pyro normally.

As a last resort, go to Start | Run and Type REGEDIT. Try changing the following registry key values:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CAKEWALK MUSIC SOFTWARE\CAKEWALK PYRO\5.0\OPTICAL DRIVE DATABASE
Now click on your CDRW or DVDRW drive. If the Values for any of these categories are set to No, change them to Yes by double clicking.
